Veronika Bernard’s artistic profile

Veronika Bernard has been creating pictures for about 30 years now. She started with painting and traditional photographing. About 8 years ago she turned to using electronically supported (digital) techniques in creating her works. In fact, her interest in the potential of those techniques started with a digital camera she bought. When she tried to get the first photographs she had taken with this camera ready for processing she found that you could do much more with those photographs than simply process and print them.
To create her works she takes photos with a digital camera. The photos are worked on by using different filters and by arranging parts of the photo in order to make the graphic potential of the photos visible. Following this idea the works display the colours and ornamental structures hidden in the original photos. The works are finalized as digital colour print on cardboard.

„Istanbuler Abstraktionen (Istanbul Abstraction)“

„Istanbul Abstraction“ presents a sequence of 14 series of pictures.
Each series starts out with a photograph of an Istanbul site. Most of these sites are places where tourists are commonly taken to as they are regarded the representative sights of Istanbul.
Each of the 14 series of pictures continues with one to four abstractions of the original photographs.
